a 12V-71 only weighs about 10x what a Top Fuel engine does...

I truly enjoy going fast on water. I prefer to not be trapped inside though, these seem mental to me.

I can’t relate. What’s mental to me also is these diesel engines’ power-to-weight ratios...

to be fair, the -71 series dates back to 1939.

I love my jet skis, but the best part is, if something goes wrong, i just hop off/fall off and land on water.

the foolish idea that it’s better to be “thrown clear” has a staggering body count. Back when hydroplanes had open cockpits and no restraints, you could count on multiple drivers dying every year. Ever since they mandated reinforced closed cockpits and harnesses in Unlimited hydros in 1988, only one driver has died (George Stratton) and like Dale Earnhardt he would have survived had he worn a HANS device.

water is not  a soft surface at those speeds.

I’ve got nothing against them. I just thought putting one in a hydroplane would be even more absurd than what’s already there. I see basically kayaks with rowdy V8s and I’m like, Nope .

Water is not a soft surface at speeds your generic ski boat can reach much less these thi ng s.

Oh I know it isn’t and I wouldn’t want to hit it that fast. It basically feels like concrete when you’re moving only around 50+. I’ve taken a ski up over 70 before and decided to let off the throttle because if I slipped and fell off it was going to hurt like hell.

These things are cool and marvels of mechanical capability on the water, I just have no desire to be locked in one on water.
